deviantART

"deviantART is a popular online artistic community. It was first launched on 6 August 2000 by Scott Jarkoff and Matthew Stephens. Angelo Sotira is the current CEO of deviantART, Inc.

deviantART aims to provide a place for any artist to exhibit and discuss his or her artworks. It also provides a community of like-minded individuals. The site consists of over 1.5 million users and over 17 million submissions (as of Dec. 2005).

deviantART is so named for the exhibits it displays. They are all created differently, with a different idea, and artist, as to be called deviant." - Source: Wikipedia.com

Simply put, deviantART is an online community dedicated to providing a place where artists may share/exhibit their work and receive feedback. Along with the aforementioned, deviantART also has other community features such as chatrooms, forums, shoutboxes, and more.

deviantART

A website that is home to many artists, and a good way to show off your artwork to the rest of the world. Although sometimes, it's not as much "Artwork" as it is "Photos of naked people cutting their wrists" A good site nonetheless.
Person 1:Hey, did you see Darthpickle's deviantART account?

Person 2:Yeah, that guy's awesome!

deviantART

A website where you can share your art with the whole world. Founded in August 2000, it's been there before Twitter, YouTube, and even Facebook. You can submit your art, or if you don't have an art-making program in the computer, you can check out something called deviantART muro, which is a great substitute. You can even making a living in the website, by selling Prints and deviations, or art, as Premium Content. There are Premium Members that can customize their page into unique pieces of art. Membership or not, you can still customize your page by using thumb codes, which are simple codes that allow other people's deviations to show up on your page. You can also make Groups of a specific topic. That's all, but if you want more, see the excitement for yourself at www.deviantart.com!

deviantart

A web based art community with many users. Users can submit their art to this community where it can be viewed by others. There are many great artists in this community. However there are many crappy artists as well who only submit pictures of half naked women in order to get a massive amount of page views and comments on their pictures by young testosterone loaded teenage boys.
"deviantart is awesome apart from all the people submitting shit just to get attention."

deviantArt

An online art community, where users, called Deviants, can sign up for a free account and upload their artwork, called Deviations. You can subscribe for a fee to receive additional benefits (such as ad-free browsing). Generally a nice place, with many intelligent and friendly members who can offer helpful insight and advice. And yes, there ARE some really amazing artists on dA who fully deserve the recognition they get.

And the abundance of mediocre manga fanart isn't even that bad - at least they tried to put some sort of artistic effort into it. What's truly horrible are the countless adolescent girls who feel the need to pepper dA with cam-whoresque pictures under the guise of expressive portraiture. Please, do it somewhere else. It's extremely selfish and egocentric, and it ruins the experience for those of us who take dA seriously.

If you truly enjoy art and put thought and effort into your work, and are willing to offer insightful, intelligent comments, please, sign up. deviantArt needs more people like you.
I found a gorgeous painting on deviantArt yesterday, so I added it to my favourites and left a comment.

If deviantArt turns into MySpace I swear I'm going to strangle something.
