To oversimplify a complex subject to make it palatable for as many people as possible. Can also mean to make a basic concept appear more clever than it really is.

The Guardian's Brexit analogy was a blatant exercise in cupcakification.
My Power-point presentation had no real ideas, but with enough cupcakification, I don't think my colleagues will notice
