slang for a short pool cue that is used when a pool table is in an area wear there is not enough room to use a full sized cue. called a chromosome because using it makes you feel slightly retarded and that the cue itself is retarded.

Chromosome powerplay 

Meaning you have an extra set of chromosomes. Nice way of calling someone a retard. Powerplay is a man-up scenario in sports, mostly from opposing team serving a penalty.
Person 1: "Wow, that guy is a moron."

Person 2: "Yeah, they must have a chromosome powerplay going on."

British slang for a scientist or technical expert, esp . when the speaker is not certain of the expert’s specific field of study. Not necessarily derogatory, but typically used by persons without a technical background. In the US, the equivalent would be “egghead”, “squint”, or “geek.”

Origin of the word is unknown. Started sometime in World War 2. Given the typical evolution of British slang, could easily have started because what these experts did was confusing or “baffling” to the common person.
