A legal defense to avoid the consequences of one's own actions. Some one who suffers from affluenza believes wealth allows them to get away with anything.
He suffered from affluenza, excessive affluence that made him think he could pay for any problem to go away.

A legal defense by rich kids and or adults who are guilty of a crime for which they committed and freely admit. The defence is that the offspring of wealthy, privileged parents who never set limits on their childrens behavior, are exempt from regular laws because natural law allows for special privilege and greater understanding for the rich and powerful in general. This argument comes from a branch of philosophy called circular logic. If the defense works it also means that instead of applying legal limits on rich people's behavior it legally exempts them and only them. This strengthens the defense in further legal problems should they occur again.
The affluenza defense works a lot better than a similar defense works for the offspring or poor, impoverished and suppressed parents, who don't have the resources to feed, cloth or house their kids properly, and because of time and resource constraints are unable keep tract or to set limits on their childrens behavior.

Affluenza, typically referred to as "rich bitch itch" or "silver spoon syndrome", is a contagious disorder usually resulting from living off the pay cheque and/or status of others. Often those affected with affluenza show symptoms early in the disease, with affected children learning to display their caregivers wealth or status in order to acquire friendships.
Contamination later in life is generally limited to those of the female persuasion who use their husband or partner's status to sway the balance of power in their favour. Though seen in males on occasion, it is generally quite rare for males to be infected by the position power of their partner or spouse.
Though a cure has not been definitely established, affluenza is often treated by therapy which can include community service at a soup kitchen or homeless shelter. More intense treatment for this disorder includes forced relocation away from the source of the patient's perceived power. Some professionals believe neurasnobberase inhibitors are highly effective in small doses but studies have been inconclusive.

1. An unfortunate social disease, among whose many symptoms include rich suburban kids pretending to be "street" while secretly processing their business school apps at night.
2. An inflated sense of entitlement wholly unrelated to talent or effort, currently seen spreading across the developed world.

This was once a decent, if unremarkable, high school cafeteria, before the dread onset of affluenza. Now mail order bling and off-kilter hats reign to dismay the sane...
