In 2020, a patriotic march for a wounded nation.

A version of Stars and Stripes Forever, a piece which in show business was historically called "the Disaster March". When theaters and circuses had house bands, this march was a code signaling a life-threatening emergency. Except for impending disaster, circus bands never played the tune under any circumstances
July 4th approaching, feeling America at a moment of life-threatening disaster, he found himself whistling Scars and Stripes Forever, hoping it would not be forever, that our national fortunes would improve.

An inexplicable 10-15 foot section of highway or interstate in South Carolina that is so scarred to the point it damages vehicle tires, throws off alignments and jolts sleepy motorists awake. Usually occurring after(and most notoriously along I-95) and even more inexplicably hundreds of feet prior to bridges and overpasses, they resemble charred sections of pavement that have been neglected for decades. Also, they are not extended sections of pavement, they usually only last a half second when traveling at typical South Carolina interstate speeds (82-92 mph). In rare cases, the scar extends the entire span of a bridge; however most of these South Carolina Road Scars have been slowly repaired over the course of 15 years.
Trucker 1: That damn four wheeler is about to run into that South Carolina Road Scar after the Pee-Dee bridge.

Four Wheeler: God damn, what WAS that?

Four Wheeler Passenger: Oh, no! What's that yellow light that just came on?

A scar created by heating up the metal guard of a Bic lighter and placing it on the bicep of a Chief Nation member. It is placed with the curve (not the open end) towards the shoulder. The resulting scar is an upside down 'V' signifying ones affiliation with Chief Nation.

What the Joker says to people before telling them a story about how he got the scars on the sides of his mouth in The Dark Knight.

The first story involves his drunk father killing his mother, then cutting the sides of his son's mouth with a knife to make it appear as if he is always smiling. This is where the line "Why So Serious?" is said in the movie.

The second story is different, in which he talks about his wife. He states that he puts a razor in his mouth and moves it around, therefore cutting himself, giving himself more scars.
Story 1: Do you want to know how I got these scars? My father was a drinker, and a fiend. And one night he goes off crazier than usual. Mommy gets the kitchen knife to defend herself. He doesn't like that. Not. One. Bit. So, me watching, he takes the knife to her, laughing while he does it. He turns to me, and he says, "Why so serious?" He comes at me with the knife, "Why so serious?" He sticks the blade in my mouth, "Let's put a smile on that face!" And...Why so serious?

Story 2: Well, you look nervous. Is it the scars? Do you wanna know how I got them? C'mere...Hey, look at me...So I had a wife. Beautiful, like you, who tells me I worry too much; who tells me I oughta smile more, who gambles and gets in deep with the sharks. Hey...One day they carve her face. We have no money for surgeries; she can't take it. I just want to see her smile again. Hm? I just want her to know that I don't care about the scars! So, I stick a razor in my mouth and do this to myself. And you know what? She can't stand the sight of me! She leaves. Now I see the funny side. Now i'm always smiling!
