Ononophonia

A perceptual illusion where multiple overlapping sounds become so entangled that their individual sources are indistinguishable. The listener may misattribute one sound to another, only realizing the confusion when one of the sounds stops.

Simplified: This experience is casually referred to as onon — when sounds are so blended that you can’t tell which is which, like thinking your fan is part of a song or a real-world noise is in the mix.
Antonym: Onrixphonia
“That mix had so much ononophonia that I couldn’t separate the vocals from the background noise.”
