"One of em's fat and loud, second one's black and proud, the third one's drunk and wild, the fourth one's slim and sly, one of em's just shy, last one's young and wise, home grown, battle tested, you gonna love these guys" -(from their song "nappy roots day").
"Nappy Roots" is a rap group consisting of 6 guys that met as students at Western Kentucky University, 2 of them are from Oakland and the other 4 were born and raised in Kentucky. Their country pride is evident in just about all of their songs. Nappy Roots is most well known for their hits: "aw naw" and "po folks".

An underrated alternative rap group from Kentucky, formerly consisting of R Prophet, Big V, Skinny Deville, Ron Clutch, Fish Scales, and B Stille. R Prophet and Big V have left the group, leaving 4 members left.
Makes very good music that makes people believe in hip hop again, unlike those fake mainstream rappers. Their lyrics contain minimal cussing yet their flow is really good. They were a best selling group in 2002, but many people are starting to forget them.
Bottom line: Listen to Nappy Roots more.

John: I don't like how many rappers nowadays are fake and always talk about weed and hoes.
Susan: Listen to Nappy Roots! There a really good rap group
Good Nappy Roots songs: How I Do, Awnaw, Good Day, Po' Folks, The People
