Lois Demby Terrace / Lil Saigon

A 200-unit residential complex in Inkster, MI, built in 1964 to house the city’s growing African American population. Nicknamed “Lil Saigon” due to Vietnam War-era violence in the area, the complex has a history marked by crime, economic struggle, and community resilience. Local gangs like the GDs operated nearby, and the area shaped Inkster’s social fabric.
“Lois Demby Terrace / Lil Saigon’s buildings might be scarred, but the neighborhood’s heart and history run deep—it’s Inkster grit at its finest.”
