Logical Supremacism

The belief that formal logic (especially classical logic) is the supreme arbiter of all truth, superior to other modes of reasoning such as intuition, emotion, embodied knowledge, or dialectical thinking. The logical supremacist dismisses any argument that does not fit into syllogisms or truth tables as irrational, and they treat their own logical framework as universal rather than one tool among many. This attitude often leads to a kind of intellectual colonialism, where non‑Western or non‑analytical reasoning is dismissed as “illogical” rather than differently logical.
Example: “He rejected feminist standpoint theory outright because it ‘wasn’t logically valid’—logical supremacism, mistaking a particular system of reasoning for the only possible one.”
