Hypsie

Singular. Plural form may not exist.

Related to both Hippy and Gypsy terminology in connotation.

1. An individual in approval of environmental, spiritual, animal, and humanity concerns who approves of peaceful negotiation, but will resort to violence if deemed necessary.

2. One who is bound only by personal ethics, which are not the same to another, but is commonly libertarian in their political beliefs, and may be neutral but not pro the extinguish of any "life" form.

3. Someone who will read your palm, punch you in the face, and hug a tree all at the same time.

4. (uncommon) Referring to a person who has ties with many different types of social circles, combined with one or more of the above definitions, who seems dangerous.

Whoa dude! Don't cross that bitch- she's a hypsie.

You know what they say about crossing a hypsie- bug one, and find several different cliques at your throat.

Oh, they go by the hypsie mentality- 'If it doesn't harm anyone unless they request it, and you don't fuck with me, do what you like.' But what they really mean is- fuck with what I care about and it'll come back to you!!

Person with a deep passion for hype and whose speech and email is embellished with rumor, gossip, innuendo and bait.
Also, "hypism" - the worldview that a hypist enjoys, inculcates and espouses.

hypist

Someone who embeds themselves in the hype of an upcoming film, movie, video game, etc, so much so that disappointment over the finished product is inevitable. They over-analyse the thing in question and complain and rant about various petty aspects of it, mostly on internet forums. This, of course, is completely different to the average person, who would simply enjoy it for what it is.

"The new Pirates of the Caribbean film completely, utterly sucked. They should have elaborated on Lord Beckett's character and Tia Dalma didn't get enough screentime. Therefore, it sucked."

Typical hypist: he complains about petty things, such as the minor characters listed above, completely ignoring Johnny Depp's performance as Jack Sparrow and all the work that went into what people generally consider to be, at least, a decent action movie. He was obviously expecting too much from the film, and is most likely a hypist.

Hypeism is a practice where the people who believe in it, all wear hype clothing and accessories. They believe in knowing all the new trends and spending the money to keep up with them.
