Office Headphone Syndrome

When many colleagues in the office wear headphones almost constantly, appearing busy and unavailable for collaboration.
My team at work has office headphone syndrome. We work in the same room and supposed to collaborate with each other, but many people wear headphones almost constantly while working on the computer and appear busy and inaccessible. It's awkward to constantly ask them to take off their headphones, so they're effectively absent, as if they're working remotely.

Headphone Neck Syndrome

A rare medical condition requiring one to wear headphones around his or her neck at all times. Especially common among Western young adult/teenage males and promoters within the entertainment industry.
Young Adult 1: What's Mike got on his neck? Looks like a big chunk of metal.
Young Adult 2: Oh, he's got Headphone Neck Syndrome.
Young Adult 1: Is it contagious?
Young Adult 2: Very! The Beats by Dre type is the most common form of this blight.

Fogey/fogy /fougi/ sl. (early 18C+, orig. Scot) old-fashioned, stuck-in-the mud.
Person with old fashioned ideas which he is unwilling to change: Come to the disco and stop being such an old fogey!
You think me an old fogeyand an old tory, his thoughtful voice said. I saw three generations since O’Connel’s time. I remember the famine. Do you know that the orange lodges agitated for repeal of the union twenty years before O’Connel did or before the prelates of your communion denounced him as a demagogue? You fenians forget some things. (James Joyce, Ulysses. Penguin Books,1992. p. 38)
