HONDA SHER
Honda Sher is a witty twist on the term "Hindu Sher," translating to Hindu lion, often adopted by some Hindu men in their social media bios. It was coined by Indian right-wing influencers frustrated by the performative traditionalism and contradictions in some Hindu men's behavior online.
A Honda Sher refers to Hindu men who present themselves as devout, hyper-masculine protectors of the faith, but whose actions or online history reveal a starkly different reality. These men might publicly condemn liberal values, flirt with secular or non-Hindu women, or indulge in behavior that contradicts their self-proclaimed ideals.
The term is also applied to men who use Hinduism as a façade for self-serving agendas, such as promoting misogynistic ideas, cherry-picking verses from scriptures to justify their bias, or bullying others under the guise of defending the faith.
