A gamer punk is a person who generally plays video games, but has a punk attitude or clothing style. Gamer punks normally are the more popular of the gamer stereotype, not being very nerdy. You could find a group of them hanging out at an arcade or a gaming center, wearing punk clothes.
Person 1 "Hey, look at that gamer punk over there."
Person 2 "Is he playing World of Warcraft?"
Person 1 "Yeah, hey, he has a lot of piercings. He's wearing a Ramones t-shirt too."

Get the gamer punk mug.Similar to a mix between a hardcore gamer, indie gamer, and retro gamer. They tend to have a love for games that are retro, Japanese, indie, or just plain classics. They also love the less popular retro titles and tend to seek deeper meanings, symbolism, and plot that affects the player subconsciously. They search for and adore retro pop culture references, including movies, music, or comics in the games they play. They couldn't give less of a shit about graphics, and look more for character development and design.
They hate bro gamers, and will generally not look upon casual gamers as well, though they only truly hate casual gaming. Everything else about them fits well into punk, indie, sometimes hipster, and once in a blue moon perhaps emo. But if a scene kid is ever one of these... well that's almost impossible.
Games with grungy, punkish or even just indie soundtracks are a subject of enjoyment especially.

No More Heroes, Scott Pilgrim, Mega Man 9 are modernish punk games.
Final Fantasy II, Mega Man 2, and Dragon Quest are examples of games that are often talked about and referenced.

Sports games
Gimmicky games (especially not these)

Get the Gamerfunk mug.A YouTube genre originating from the UK that began in 2023. Being pioneered by YouTuber's such as Flyingtoyota and redlight, the genre is characterised by uniquely comical, often times cynical commentary played over sped up footage of a game. The videos are usually centred around that game in question, and YouTuber's like Flyingtoyota have used the genre to create their own story overtop of the game. Videos in this genre tend to make references to British culture (mostly negative comments) for comedic effect. The editing can at times be unpolished, this being another characteristic. Creators like WayVegas have begun to merge the genre with others, like a traditional video essay.
