adenosine triphosphate. Adenosine triphosphate is a monomer of adenosine with two additional phosphate funtional groups. Abbreviated ATP, they are the absolute giver of life. That is, they store energy in the bonds between phophate functional groups, and when they are broken apart energy is released.
