emo today is call "emotional" being emo is meaning that your not afraid to cry and to act the way you feel. its true not all emo cut them self,not sad 24/7,don't wanna kill them self,don't always wear 100% black all the time,and not all emos hate them self .

sometimes stereotyped as cutters and suicidal but that isn't the fact. emos are really more sensitive then more people. Some punks are mistaken as emos. emos most of the time have long hair covering one or both eyes and wear tight shirts skinny jeans and convers that isn't always the case tho emos sometimes can wear all the prep clothes but not often. most if not all listen to what is called emo music. some if now all emos are bi (becuse lets face it guy on guy is really hott)

The most commonly misconceived word in popular culture. Often used by Middle-School aged kids to insult their peers who listen to rock music.

Emo is, in reality, a subgenre of 80s hardcore punk, created by bands like Fugazi, Rites of Spring and Embrace. Later, in the early 90s, it was furthered by bands such as Sunny Day Real Estate and Jawbreaker.
