denial is refusing to admit a past or present reality. you try to convince yourself or others that it's another reality because you don't want to face it.

you bought a jean, you try it on but it doesn't fit because it's too small but you convince yourself that it's because you have just eaten when the jeans are really too small but you don't want to admit it. this is what denial feels like.
