The term is a play on words, combining "chi" from China and "nice" to convey a positive meaning, sounding like a playful alteration of the word "Chinese". It emerged as a response to the numerous negative incidents and stereotypes surrounding the exclusivity and perceived difficulty of Cindo integrating with the native Indonesian population.
