Used as a derogatory word in antiquity; has in modernity been used as a replacement for sycophant, a meaning for someone who is a kiss-ass, someone who encourages or advocates for a cause that is objectively and subjectively against their own well being in order to supplicate other people’s acceptance.
Despite knowing the policy would hurt people like him, the coon eagerly defended it to gain favor with his wealthy employers.
