This time he won 5 times ironically to Massa's 6 but his consistency proved vital at the last round in Interlagos,Brazil. Massa winning that race by 13 seconds to second place Fernando Alonso. Hamilton that time had been overtaken by Sebastian Vettel and would lose the championship in the tiebreaker had it not been for Timo Glock gambling staying on the dry tires with the rain intensifying with the infamous phrase by Martin Brundle "is that glock? is that glock going slowly?" Timo Glock after the race was asked if McLaren had paid him but that was not the case. Glock had lost grip on his dry tires on the wet weather and the two drivers (sebastian vettel and lewis hamilton) had caught up with him on the last corner and with Glock missing tire grip Hamilton stormed to the line to claim his first world championship tittle.
