A Hebrew name (גד) pronounced as God, and meaning Fortune.

Gad (גד). Which is pronounced exactly the same as God, is the name of one of the 12 sons of Jacob, later called Israel, and the family or tribe which he started, ie, Gad, pronounced God, is the name of one of the 12 tribes of Israel.

Gad (גד) pronounced God, is also the name of a false deity mentioned in Isaiah 65 :11. The Canaanite equivalent of Zeus or Jupiter.

Yahweh Elohim (יהוה אלהיס) is never called Gad or God ,(גד) in the Hebrew Bible. So where did the English name God meaning deity come from?
