Get the Florida Man mug.A subgenre of death metal that started in the late 80's and is composed of bands such as Morbid Angel, Obituary, Cannibal Corpse, Deicide, Malevolent Creation, Monstrosity, Resurrection, and so on.
Tampa is the most prevelant home to Florida Death Metal bands. Morbid Angel, Obituary, Cannibal Corpse, and Deicide are some of the most notable ones to live and record in Tampa. Morrisound Studios is where a great many classic death metal albums were recorded, like CC's Tomb of the Mutilated, Morbid Angel's Covenant, Obituary's Cause of Death, and even Brazilian thrashers Sepultura came to Tampa in 1991 to record Arise with producer Scott Burns, who also produced numerous death metal albums.
The style of Florida death metal is not easily defined, it varies from cannibal corpses blood and guts themes to deicides anti-christian ranting. But it is usually just straight forward and to the point, no fancy productions or studio wizardy with an emphasis on riffs and song structures. some bands are more techinical than others. Most of them use blast beats and especially double bass, vocals go from thrash yelling to low guttural growls to high shrieks.
Overall, death metal would not be the same without these bands. Florida swamp death metallers unite.

Get the florida death metal mug.Metro area in extreme southeast Florida; the most populated urban area in the state, it stretches roughly 100 miles from Palm Beach County in the north to Miami-Dade County in the south, with about 5.4 million year-round residents. All 3 counties are incredibly densely populated because development is limited to a thin strip of land between the Atlantic Ocean and the Everglades. Miami is the largest city in South Florida; other important cities include Miami Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Hollywood, Boca Raton, and West Palm Beach. Generally disliked/hated on by the rest of the state for a variety of reasons, some logical (crime, high housing costs, bad schools, sprawl, rude drivers) and others not so logical (high levels of racial diversity, blend of cultures, pro-growth attitude, general wealth/prosperity). Demographically not that much different from a city of the Northeast (except for Miami-Dade, which has majority foreign influences), it is the most "northern" of the state's metro areas and basically the entire opposite of the Florida Panhandle. Major center for tourism, trade, finance, business, and international commerce.
He's going to spend Spring Break in South Florida. Wanna come?
(Typical Panhandle resident): South Florida is a wicked, atheist-filled garbage dump.
(Weather announcer) Today's January forecast for the greater South Florida area calls for cloudy skies and high temperatures in the 80's.

Get the South Florida mug.A rare breed, a true Native Floridian, whose family has lived out in more rural parts of the state for many generations and continues to do so. Known to be very self-sufficient by growing or hunting their own food and building their own homes. Not at all like what most people nowadays picture as a Floridian. A Florida Cracker is a true Southerner, not a transplant from a Northern state. The Florida Cracker is kin to the Georgia Cracker.
People ask me where I am from, assuming everyone in Florida must be from another state and are shocked to learn that I am a Florida Cracker.
