The name "Earworm" comes from the definition described in 1).

"Like, OMG Baby" is an epic earworm by DJ Earwom! However, "Whip My Hair" is also.

Earworm

A song (usually one that you don't want to hear) that plays in your head for the rest of the day after you hear it. There is often some part of the song that is addictive to the brain, which may be the beat, the melody, or the lyrics.

Best ways to get rid of an earworm include replacing it with another song, or listening to songs other than the one that is stuck (just try not to think about it).

Chronic Earworm Syndrome

A very annoying mental issue. If you often wake up with your favorite song in your head and it makes it much harder to go back to sleep, you probably have it. Also, a new song would have to automatically drive out the previous one so that you have one going around up there 24/7.

My love for music has gone too far. I think I have Chronic Earworm Syndrome (CES).
