Contrary to popular belief, love isn't a feeling. Infatuation is a feeling, which is felt (if to a lesser degree) by three-year-olds and their sweethearts, high schoolers, middle-aged people, and senior citizens alike. Love, in my opinion, is a way of living one's life to better another's. If a person is truly in love, he will give freely of himself to make the other person, in whatever way, happier. It's making one's life so that EVERY ASPECT of that life is, in whatever way, working for the good of the other's. Total, total dedication. It's also allowing that person to give back those same actions selflessly. Love, when done correctly, doesn't directly benefit the person doing the loving; it's the reciprocation of love that makes everything worthwhile.
There are no good examples; to get a good idea of love, one must experience it. There is no other way.

Get the lovemug. One of the most unexplainable aspects of a human's life that God has ever put into existence. This thing is so hard to sum up without writting paragraphs upon paragraphs. This word is misconstrued and thrown around by people on a daily basis-it's pretty sad at times. If you love someone, you care. Romantically, or not, when you love, you will not let something stupid or insignificant get between you and that person. When you love someone, you're mature, patient, and understanding. If you aren't positive you love someone, please do humanity a favor and don't say it. If you would tell this person that you love them, and could leave them one month later over practically nothing, would cheat on them, or would do pretty much anything unnecessary that you know will hurt them, DO NOT TELL THEM YOU LOVE THEM. This word is so serious, and there are too many people that'll go say it with a huge amount of immaturity. Love is literally the best feeling in the world, but at the same time, love can cause some of the worst feelings in the world.
Example 1:
So she told me she loved me, and I found the courage to finally tell her that I honestly loved her too about a week afterward, but she dumped me about 4-5 weeks after she first said it. She hurt me like I had never been hurt before. She obviously didn't love me, but the thing is, I really did love her, so even though I feel absolutely lied to, am experiencing emotions worse than I've ever felt in my life, and have been living with a fake relationship, I can't bring myself to hate her or say a single negative thing to anyone regarding her.

Sue: John, we've been dating four days! I love you.
John: ...

Get the lovemug. Explaining love is one of the hardest thing a human can do. Maybe the reason this is so, is because no one is really sure what love is. I will try my best, to describe love, from what i do know. It's a feeling like no other. And when you are inlove, nothing matters. TRUE love, isn't based on gender, race, age, etc. You can love anybody but; It's all about that one person, who you honestly can't live without. They are always on your mind. You can't stop thinking about them. Sometimes you'll think of a special moment between you and your true love, and smile out of nowhere. The reason they say love is blind is because when you love somebody, you see nothing but perfect. There are no flaws in that one person, they are beautiful no matter what. You see the rest of your life with them, and you can't imagine yourself with anybody else. You get butterflies when they say simple things, that mean a lot. You find yourself worrying about losing them, because you have no idea what you would do without them. They complete you. You cherish every moment you spend with them. You can talk on the phone for hours, and never run out of things to talk about. TRUE love is when they don't need to unbutton your shirt to see your heart.
