Working off your guilt

When a boss, romantic other, friend or family member does something for you, and you have no other way of paying them back, to simply be charming and fair in other ways to pay your dues for having underappreciated them.
Kat: Jeanne, you took me back as your friend again, but I don't know, I don't know if it's healthy.

Jeanne: Look, I know you're still working off your guilt, but good things happen to people like you!

Face Off

Relating to the fight in the canteen in the movie Face Off, with Nic Cage going completely nuts so he's left alone by the other prisoners. So basically, it's pretending to go insane in a situation where you feel threatened, so others won't abuse or harass you.
Did you hear what happened to Josh at the skateboard park last week? Three guys tried to take his skateboard so he did a total face off, smashed his board, and headbutted one of them. Now they won't even go back to the skateboard park, the losers.
