Houston, we've had a problem here

Originally a genuine report of a life-threatening fault. Now used humorously to report any kind of problem.

John Swigert, Jr. and James Lovell who, with Fred Haise Jr., made up the crew of the US's Apollo 13 moon flight used (almost) this phrase to report a major technical problem back to their Houston base.

Swigert: 'Okay, Houston, we've had a problem here.'
Duke: 'This is Houston. Say again please.'
Lovell: 'Houston, we've had a problem. We've had a main B bus undervolt.'

Bus People

Bus people are a whole sub culture. Just because you ride a bus doesn't make you bus people, and just cause you have a car doesn't mean you are not bus people. The people that run up on you asking for change at gas stations or anywhere are bus people. Overall you are a bus person if you are super ghetto and don't know how to function with the rest of society.
The plural and singular of this word is the same : Bus People

I just saw a piece of poop fall out of that "Bus people's" pant leg as he asked me for some change.

people's republic of berkeley

(Noun) Nickname given to the University of California at Berkeley in the San Francisco bay area.

Title is a play on the official name of The People's Republic Of China, and is bestowed on Berkeley due to its students reputation for fanatical (bordering on Communist) political leanings. E.G Pro-choice,Antiwar, anti-meat,fanatical gay pride etc...

Dave:'I was up at the 'People's Republic Of Berkeley' the
other day for a potluck dinner.'
Jim: 'Food any good?'
Dave: 'Terrible. These people did to vegetables what Hitler did to Poland. And then they start ragging on me about the rubber on my shoes.'
Jim:'What?'
Dave: 'Apparently they consider chopping rubber trees murder.'
