Hipster

A non-productive member of society. Typically the offspring of two highly successful parents who live in places like Greenwich, Connecticut or the Upper East Side of Manhattan, the hipster is someone who has failed to achieve the level of success of his or her busy parents and tries to compensate for the insecurities that come with abject failure by conforming to a culture that claims to hate conformity. They shop at thrift stores and try desperately to shed their blue-blooded upbringing by wearing old, ratty flannel shirts and by bleaching and/or rubbing dead fish in their hair.

Person 1: Dude, have you ever been to an urban farmers' market?

Person 2: No, seeing all those hipsters makes me depressed about the future of our society.

Hipster in the contemporary sense is a subculture of men and women generally in their 20's and 30's. Aspects of this sub culture include rampant consumerism of "ironic" or "kitschy" pop culture items and art, examples of this include large colored sun glasses, indie music, street art. The nihilistic and self indulgent characteristics of this group have grown and developed from the failure of past youth cultures i.e beats, hippies, and punks to make any sort of true cultural or political change. Thus the hipster culture is an acceptance of all the things which previous countercultures believed they were fighting against such as commercialism and consumerism.

Those hipsters over there dress ridiculous and don't care about anything.

Mainstream Hipster

A person, usually among the young demographic, who consistently wears plaid shirts and skinny jeans. They go for the 'hipster look', however, they generally still listen to mainstream pop and hip-hop, which defeats the purpose of their efforts. (They may also listen to 'alternative' like Mumford and Sons or Death Cab for Cutie's new album). Mainstream Hipsters will generally group together to form their own clique of MHs, however, they can be spotted among other social groups occasionally.

Mainstream Hipster 1: "Omg, did you know that Ben Gibbard used to have this band called The Postal Service? Omg, that was like, so long ago."
MH 2: "No way! That's soo cool. Death Cab for Cutie is like, my FAVORITE. They're sooo hipster."
MH 1: "omg I know."
*real hipsters walk by, listening to Jinja Safari and Arctic Monkeys*
Real Hipster 1: "Wow, look at those Mainstream Hipsters."
Real Hipster 2: "Hipster fail."

Hippy Club

A venue where one can venture to conduct many activities. The most notable are hunt the grunt, yeti spotting, alabama sledgehammering, shit-nugget dodging, spaghetti legging, cincinatti bow-tie-ing, generally sweating, drinking and fighting. Basically all things good in life.

Hippy Club Bouncer: How much have you had to drink?
Patron 1: 15 beers
Bouncer: Sorry, no entering the Hippy Club tonight.
(parton one leaves, terribly disappointed)
Bouncer: How much have you had to drink?
Patron 2: Ahh... 3 beers
Bouncer: OK, in you go
Patron 2: Yeeessssss! Time to hunt the grunt and get me a cincinatti bow-tie!

Hipster Troll

Someone who trolls with no real original thought or idea. An individual seeing countless others before him discuss or troll a topic and just doing the same to be cool or fit in with others.

When a forum gets over run by everyone trying to be that guy and troll.
