Steel Mental Health

A term used to mock or dismiss the psychological toll of sustained online harassment, particularly gangcornering. When a target shows signs of distress after being mobbed, perpetrators or bystanders ask, “What, you don’t have steel mental health?”—as if enduring coordinated abuse without breaking were a reasonable expectation. The phrase weaponizes the concept of resilience, implying that anyone who suffers under extreme conditions is inherently weak. It is used to normalize gangharassment by shifting blame from the perpetrators to the target’s supposed fragility.
Example: “After she described how forty people had been harassing her for weeks, a moderator asked, ‘Don’t you have steel mental health?’—dismissing the trauma of mob abuse as a personal failing.”

Clique Mentality

The groupthink and exclusionary behavior exhibited by tightly knit online communities (cliques) that prioritize in‑group loyalty over fairness, accuracy, or justice. Clique mentality manifests as reflexive defense of clique members, regardless of their actions; automatic hostility toward outsiders or critics; and a shared narrative that frames the clique as virtuous and its targets as threats. It often turns servers, subreddits, or fandom spaces into echo chambers where accountability applies only to outsiders. Clique mentality is the social engine behind many forms of gangharassment, as cliques act as ready‑made mobs.
Example: “When a clique member was caught harassing someone, the entire server closed ranks, called the victim a liar, and banned anyone who asked questions. Clique mentality: loyalty above all.”

Magpie Mentality

Magpie Mentality in recruitment refers to the behaviour of serial appliers—candidates who apply indiscriminately to every job they see, driven by a compulsive attraction to new or “shiny” opportunities, regardless of their relevance or suitability. This scattergun approach often signals poor career focus, a lack of commitment, and raises red flags for recruiters and hiring managers who view such behaviour as inconsistent, unreliable, and ultimately unhirable.
I thought she was serious about the marketing role, but then she applied for a forklift driver job the same day—total magpie mentality.
