Short for teenager, a teen is someone between the ages of 13-19, hence the suffix "teen." Commonly misunderstood, teenagers have many stereotypes. They are, but not limited to, the following:

-addicts
-troublemakers
-lazy

Many teens may be like the above, however it is wrong to associate this image to them.

Lisa: Hey, you said your son was a teen right?
Mary: Yeah, he's pretty well-behaved.
Lisa: Pshhhh, like I can believe that, good luck raising him.

A person between the ages of 9 and 11, especially at 10 sometimes. It can start as early age as 8.

Me: "I can't believe I'm a pre-teenager/pre-teen, 11 is the last year of pre-teen."
Mum: "Getting a big boy/girl now!"
