troll baiting

Troll baiting is the act of giving yourself or your argument credibility by intentionally martyring yourself by picking fights with extremist nut jobs who oppose you or your argument. The last thing a troll baiter wants is to come up against someone who is calm, intelligent, passionate and highly informed on the subject who can easily blow holes in their argument without getting vulgar or making personal attacks.

The minister was just troll baiting when he protested the sinfulness of dancing at a nightclub in a bad neighbor hood instead of the university dance department down the road because he could get more supporters by being a victim than by being wrong.

shotgun bait

When she's too old to be jail bait (18 or older), but too young for her dad to be okay with you dating her because of the age difference (e.g. she's 19 and you're 27, or she's 23 and you're 31, etc.). Therefore, her father is likely to go for the shotgun when he meets you.

When a girl is older than 18, but you're so much older than she is that you're probably taking advantage of her inexperience / naiveté.

When dating a girl makes you uncomfortable, even though she's legal, because she's so much younger than you are.

Friend: "Dude, she's SO into you, and she's totally legal."
You: "Man, that's not what her daddy would say. She's shotgun bait."

Friend: "She's only with you because she's too young to know better."
You: "Well, it's not like she's jail bait."
Friend: "Yeah, but she's shotgun bait. In a couple of years she'll wonder what she was thinking. Then you're gonna get it."

Friend: "Go for it, man. It's not like she's jailbait or anything."
You: "Yeah, but she was TEN when I graduated from high school -- THE FIFTH GRADE when I went to college! That's messed up, man. As far as I'm concerned, she's shotgun bait."

Term often used as a smokescreen to suppress any legitimate discourse on the state of race relations in the United States or to deny the existence of racism in some form.

A reporter was accused of being a race baiter for suggesting that some, not all, of the criticism of President Obama is motivated in racism.

Baritone

Male voice part higher than the bass and lower than the tenor. For many years thought to derive from "Baron of Tone", that being a good and nobel thing. Later historical investigation concludes that the true derivation is from "Barren of Tone" circa 1937 Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America (That's right, SPEBQSA) notes that those compelled to sing the "Baritone Line" are strangely attracted to do so by the absence of melodic interest and frequent awkward intervals.

1937 Audience member 1 - Did you hear that guy on the end standing next to the bass?

Audience member 2 - Oh yeah, what was that guy trying to do?

Audience member 1 - Maybe he's the baritone?

Audience member 2 - Don't know, but he was certainly barren of tone!
