When the amount of leeway you're willing to give someone based purely on their attractiveness runs out. Like a check that bounces because of insufficient funds, a 'cute check' is given by uninteresting but attractive people but soon bounces when you find there's nothing in the 'account' to draw interest from.

Cameron: "I don't know why you still put up with that Tony kid. His cute check bounced about 1 day after I met him and then I just couldn't stand to be around him."

Gyro: "Yeah I know, but he's just so darn cute."

Cameron: "Yeah well, whatever."

Etude-checker

(1) A charlatan posing as a trumpet instructor who offers no educational benefit to the student. (2) One who assigns etudes without offering help of how to play them. (3) One who checks off etudes each lesson regardless of the student's progress.

Charlie didn't help me learn how to play the trumpet, he just listened and checked off the etude and assigned another one for next week, since he isn't a real trumpet teacher, but an etude-checker.
