"Berkut" acquired negative connotatoin and is associated with a ruthless goon in a police uniform who uses brutal force without any objective need, jut to satisfy their own sadistic inclinations. Berkut special force unit was dissolved in the aftermath of the 2014 revolution in Ukraine.
We had to stick together when passing through the area, since Berkut bastards were on the prowl ready to grab lone passers-by and arrest them for 'extremism'.
