TV Tropes

TV Tropes is a wiki that collects and expands descriptions and examples on various conventions and devices (tropes) found within creative works. Since its establishment in 2004, the site has gone from covering only television and film tropes to also covering those in a number of other media such as literature, comics, video games, and even things such as advertisements and toys. The nature of the site as commentary about pop culture and fiction has attracted attention and commentary from several web personalities and blogs.

The content was published as free content from April 2008, and changed its license over the years to one allowing noncommercial distribution.

TV Tropes initially focused on the television show Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and has since increased its scope to include thousands of other series, films, novels, plays, professional wrestling, video games, anime, manga, comic strips and books, fan fiction, and many other subjects, including Internet works such as Wikipedia, which is referred to in-wiki as "The Other Wiki". It has also used its informal style to describe topics such as science, philosophy, politics, and history under its Useful Notes section. TV Tropes does not have notability standards for the works it covers.

Troy, NY

A city of the eastern bank of the Hudson River in Upstate NY. It was first settled by the Dutch in the 1600's. A local butcher and meat-packer named Samuel Wilson supplied the military, and, according to an unprovable legend, barrels stamped "U.S." were jokingly taken by the troops to stand for "Uncle Sam" meaning Wilson. Troy has since claimed to be the historical home of Uncle Sam. During the 19th and early 20th centuries Troy was not only one of the most prosperous cities in the state but one of the most in the country. It was an epicenter for the steel industry and trading along the Hudson. Despite Troy's early success it is now a city in a state of delapidation. Now it is home to welfare recipients, criminals, and few from its hardworking past. Another industrial city that bit the dust!

Troy-Core

Troy-Core was started in the late 1980s Early 1990s by 4 friends who were close with the band DEAD END...It quickly spread and every hardcore/Metal band that came out of Troy NY was labeled Troy-Core- (example) Dead End/Final Terror/ Cranial abuse/ Rude Awakening / DirectAttack /Stigmata/Harbinger/Flat Broke/Politics of Contraband/Wartime Manner/ Burning Human/ Dying Breed/ Execution Style/Last call/ Hold It down.. to name a few..and although a violent bunch of young lads we were.. it Turned into TROY-CORE FAMILY and we still carry that flag proud .. true til' our death.... as Troy-core is known world wide.. spreading a positive message to the world by exploiting the negative.. which most are afraid to do!
