etymology: putain noun, french
putain:pute:puta (meaning) whore, bastard etc.
poontang, is now commonly used for going whoring, or getting some ass.
also means pussy
related to pute, similar to puta and putana.
this is the likely origin of the word, and was probably used by french sailors and is definitely the etymology of the Louisiana french population our friend refers to in his own definition.

In reference to the existing definition, and its etymology, a) I remind you that Filipino is not a Language, it is a creole, a pidjin if you like mixed with the main language Tagalog. While the ikaloso(sp?no disrespect intended) dialect may have the word, that does not confirm the etymology at all.language, is constantly being contaminated in a multi-directional way. It is of note that the maritime nations, prominent in the region, Portugal, Spain, France in the south and west pacific all share derivation of the word putain, throw regional and national accents into it and the same word appears, putain, poontang, puta.

An excellent college party drink. Start with one tea spoon of orange tang. Then add a 20 oz sprite and a shot of Vodka. Stir approppriately. If you don't put the tang in first, you lose the fizz.

Last night I asked the bar tender for some poontang. She slapped me.
