A coinage by humorist Alan Coren mocking British un-educated pronunciation. Coren also made much use of wossname and may even have invented that spelling.

It's from the Tamil origin:
1.) Cause to be embarrassed
2.) Caused to feel self-conscious and uncomfortable.

This word is also similar to embarrassment.

Mildly insulting. Popularised by Indian actor Mithun Chakraborty in his 1989 movie Ilaaka.
