garage motel

A law-enforcement term for a hotel that hides its main purpose -- providing kinky rooms for brief trysts for, say, two cheaters or a john and his escort. Garage motels feign respectability by calling l themselves "hotels" -- yet they feature indoor garages and internal staircases to protect identities of visitors., making them more expensive than "regular" motels. Garage motels rent rooms which may include mirrors on ceilings and heart-shaped beds.

The FBI explained that the 2006 Brink's robbery in Miami became especially serious after one of the robbers was kidnapped and taken to a garage motel to be tortured in secret. Though the place called itself the Princess Hotel, they soon learned it was a garage motel that made a lot of money renting out discreet access to rooms for an hour at a time.

Roach Motel

A hotel near the beach that's just cheap enough for those seniors on senior week who rebel against being cool and wasting money on an expensive hotel. The room is usually covered in blood stains and pubes that both range from 1963 to the present day. The beds are crawling with roaches hence the name "roach motel".

"Dude I only have 100 bucks for senior week."

Super 8 Motel

Mainly a motel for midnight by passers (tired truckers and long distance travelers), the economy suite crowd (chasers), and casual-discreet (sex and/or drug) encounters. It's like any other national (generic) hotel chain, such as Days Inn, Red Roof Inn, LaQuinta, Howard Johnson, Ramada, and etc. Usually, not too fancy or too run down (depends on locations, though) more of a come and go place, unlike a resort or higher-end hotel. Very basic (cable/iron/hot water/hot meal services, not always though), but affordable nightly/weekly rates.

Though in some regions and towns, Super 8 may have more reasonable rates than some of the other national chains. Depends on the package deals, types of services, and competition, but nevertheless inexpensive for the average person, traveling groups, or family.

We were at the Super 8 Motel on Hamilton Ave last night.
