Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson is a rapper from Southside Jamaica Queens, NY. He was born in 1975 when his mother was 15 years old. His mother died when he was nine years old and he began dealing drugs at 12. He was arrested in tenth grade for bringing a gun and drug money to school. He was arrested twice again in 1994, once for selling cocain to an undercover police officer, and the other for possesion of cocain and heroin.
Jackson began rapping under the stage name 50 Cent, after the famous Brooklyn theif Kelvin "50 Cent" Martin. He signed with Colombia Records, and was set to release his debut CD Power of the Dollar, before being shot in 2000.
On May 24, 2000, 50 Cent was shot nine times, including once in his jaw, outside of his grandmother's home where he grew up. He was also shot in the hand, chest, and legs the shooter's 9mm handgun. The alleged shooter, Darryl "Hommo" Baum, was killed three weeks later. After the shooting 50 Cent was dropped from Colombia Records and Power of the Dollar was never released.
In 2002, Detroit-born rapper Eminem listened to 50 Cent's mixtape No Mercy, No Fear, and invited him to meet with rapper and producer Dr. Dre. He signed a 1 million dollar record deal and released his debut album Get Rich or Die Tryin under Interscope Records.
Get Rich or Die Tryin debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200, selling 872,000 copies in the first four days. The lead single, In da Club broke a Billboard record as the most listened to song in radio history within a week.
50 Cent was granted his own record label in 2003, G-Unit Records. He signed fellow Queens rappers Lloyd Banks and Tony Yayo to his G-Unit rap group. Tennessee rapper Young Buck was also a member of the group.

A symbol of everything wrong with hip-hop. He has no flow, unbelievably bad lyrics, and no subject material except "I'll kill you"...and he still sells a ton. The people who buy his albums are either white, upper-class kids who don't listen to any other rap, or black people who try to hide their weakness by pretending they're thugs. Listen to Jay-Z, B.I.G., Kanye, Big L, and Nas, and then tell me that 50 Cent has any talent whatsoever. But don't worry, his new album is going to flop horribly and we won't hear much from him anymore.

Rapper who put rap back in rap. Before 50 went underground with G-unit, we had to listen to Ja Rule and some chick, Nelly half-sing/half-rap, Will Smith, LL, and any other rapper who went mainstream. 50 took it back to the streets, and don't forget he doesn't condemn the people out there that bootleg his shit. Selling 1.1 mill in 4 days is enough, imagine if bootlegging was included? 50 has now become commercialized, the same thing happens to almost every rapper after signing with they major. When you get that "big" record deal you gotta do certain things to keep the hand that feeds you happy (See Snoop). It ain't about kissing ass it's about not being an idiot and f*ckin' your own self up. We all do it day by day in own lives. If you don't then check the definition of loser in the urban dictionary...your picture awaits.
50 cent before rap = hustling to stay ahead of the streets
50 cent after being shot = hustling mixtapes to the streets
50 cent after Shady/Aftermath deal = Hustling to "get rich"
50 cent after getting rich = doing what he needs to do stay rich.

Tupac: It ain't about the struggles no more. It's about cars, money and hoes now. Fuck the clowns.
50 cent: If I weren't so fucking gay maybe we would have more artists like tupac.

a rapper who has a tendency to rap about his sexual reproductive system, which he calls it the "magic stick". he has at least two of his magic stick songs. they are "candy shop" and..."magic stick"
this rapper is just like any other mainstream rappers out there... they all make the same kind of lyrics about sex, drugs, violence, and bad language mixed with a tune made from some midi format music

Mainsteam rapper who got popular because he nagged Eminem and Dr. Dre to put him on, and the fact he's been shot a billion times (I can see why). Has somehow made a shitload of money and now buys Rolls Royce's an 5$ hoes off the streets of queens, which has led him to beleive he is a pimp. Has beef with Ja Rule (who blows even more than 50), nas, shyne an jadakiss. hopefully he'll realizes just cause he gets banged by dre and em hes not gangsta and go away. Also responsible for bringin all these wack words to the table, like wanksta when the real word is busta, like all u who old enough to respect the O.G.s should know
