Udi

A very small ethnic group found in the Caucasus Mountains of Russia. Their language is (disputedly) related to Lezgin, which in turn is spoken in Azerbaijan and Daghestan. The Udi used to have two main ethnic centers in Azerbaijan: Vartashen and Nij. Azerbaijani nationalism has forced the Udi to settle in Armenia and Georgia, in scattered communities. They are a Christian people whose church is very similar to that of the Armenians. There is a movement by some Udi to form an organization "Aghvank" in Armenia, to preserve the endangered language of the Udi and their customs for future generations.

I'd like to learn more about the Udi people---their language seems to be very interesting.

Udeshna

Refers to a person who literally moans while yawning, is Jain (ie. prohibits any injury to other beings however very volatile amongst humans), and also makes weird fuck faces. They're very displeased with chingu (someone who doesn't respond in time or does the work in time) but yet hang around. They also resemble the laugh of a rodent.
