star farming

To send a message or form of media in an attempt to get star reactions on Discord, intentionally or not.

This mainly happens on servers with a Starboard channel, a channel dedicated to displaying member's messages if the they react a certain amount of star reactions.

Usually this happens when a person mass posts brainrot memes and are just generally trying to constantly be funny or ironic. Other times this can happen if a person keeps posting high quality art and constantly getting star reactions for it.

Star farming isn't inherently a bad thing.

Person 1: Erm... well that just happening!

Person 2: Quit star farming.

Aura Farming

Aura Farming: The act of dominantly exerting one's persona, charisma, and demeanor as a noticable social pressure through intentional actions supportive of Aura Farmer's desired demeanor/persona.

Origin: The term likely originates from both Roblox and the Dragon Ball franchise. Auras in Roblox have become a hugely popularized avatar cosmetic over the years that resemble the colorful glowing aura of Dragon Ball characters charging Ki or emitting their power. Cosmetic auras are visually appealing and are closely associated with supernatural strength. Therefore it's sought after in Roblox games. The type of Roblox games that have obtainable cosmetic auras typically encourage competition between players by displaying and ranking a user avatar's strength through a medium such as power levels. Due to the popularity and nature of video game cosmetics, auras are typically difficult to obtain so you have to farm for an aura to obtain one. Hence, the likely origination of "aura farming."

Person 1: "Get a load of that guy, trying to act tough, he's obviously widening his shoulders and posture, he looks like a total idiot."
Person 2: "You don't get it do you? He's clearly aura farming. We're merely just lesser beings beneath his oh so mighty presence. Show some respect."
