A person who advocates equal rights for women.

Even though a lot of people believe this, they don't think they're better than men or anyone.

They are called "feminist" because their main interest is in helping women to become equal to men, but they support and defend al types of equality.
They are often confused with feminazis

I'm support the equal rights for women, therefore I consider myself a feminist.

Asking someone if they want a cookie may be used to mock, more or less gently, such attention seeking. A man congratulating himself on his feministic treatment of women is likely to be called out for cookie seeking. In general, feminists consider feminist behavior an essential matter of etiquette, not a cause for general congratulations and acclaim.
