Wedgie

A wedgie is the condition of having one‘s underwear stuck in their buttocks either in a natural way (natural wedgie), when the underwear is engulfed by one’s butt cheeks or by getting them pulled up as a prank or an act of bullying. In the second case the underwear of the victim is usually grabbed by the waistband and pulled up behind their back forcing the legholes to slide between the victim‘s buttocks, similar to a thong, causing an immense pain in their butt crack. The wedgie has numerous variations such as the so-called „melvin“, where the underwear is pulled up from the front, the hanging wedgie, where the victim is lifted up by their underwear which is then attached to an object so that the victim is solely hanging from the piece of cotton between their butt cheeks and the atomic wedgie, where the victim‘s underwear is yanked up so high it can be pulled over his/her head for the ultimate humiliation. Not only does a wedgie cause physical damage such as the severe burn in the victim‘s crack but it also damages the individual mentally as having one’s underwear stretched out of their pants, in a way that everybody around him/her can see it, might destroy someone‘s confidence completely. Therefore the wedgie is known to be one of the most evil acts of bullying as the victim gets hurt in a sensitive area such as his/her own butt crack, a private area that no other person should be allowed to invade.

Wedgie

A sharp tug to the rear of the underpants. Named after the British politician Tony Benn or, as he was at the time, the Honourable Anthony Wedgewood-Benn, Viscount Stanhope. As an hereditary member of the House of Lords he was barred from voting in General Elections and from taking a seat in the House of Commons. In order to renounce his title, impossible at the time, he started a campaign of tugging the rear of the underpants of men of influence, on one memorable day in particular scoring wedgies on the Prime Minister, the Duke of Edinburgh, the Archbishop of Canterbury and the Soviet Foreign Secretary at one diplomatic reception. He achieved his aim and went on to be a Member of Parliament representing Bristol in the Labour interest.
