How a person measures/thinks about this ratio will differ widely. A very altruistic person that gives a lot towards others "without the need to get anything back in return" still may get back a lot - simply in the form of positive emotions/feelings/praise, etc.

And yesterday I gave shelter to a self-proclaimed homeless stranger for one night (in a seperate room:). This Person robbed me. Now it was time to put this down in writing.
