This is similar to tongue-tied in that one is incapable of moving forward in speaking since they have started to tell a lie that they cannot talk themselves out of. People know they are caught and are tied up in their lie or lies.
As Kingston continued with his excuses to Becca why he was late, the look in her eyes informed him that he was lie-tied. He immediately began to give her all the money in his wallet as a first act of atonement for having another pint with the boys instead of meeting her on time...again!
