Cardiothoracic is the name given to surgeons who specializes in surgery on the heart lungs esophagus and the other organs found in the chest cardiothoracic surgeons can specialize in the heart or the lungs ribs and other such organs or choose to be a general surgeon which means they do both types of surgeries on the heart lungs and ribs.
