The Digital Grand Canyon refers to the gap between American citizens:
*with effective access to digital and information technology versus those with very limited or no access at all and/or
*with sufficient and proper resources, training and skills needed to effectively participate as a digital citizen versus those without and/or
*with the desire and mindset to embrace digital citizenry versus those without and/or
*with sufficient english language skills to effectively participate as an american digital citizen versus those without
Applying the 80/20 rule, there are 50 million american citizens in the digital grand canyon. Not a laughing matter, these citizens do or can expect to experience a lesser quality of american life, as more international and american businesses, and even federal, state and local governments, more growingly rely on providing online services, which can be much less costly to the organizations, than those provided by brick and mortar, telephone call center, and other facilities.
The term global digital divide refers to differences in citizen access, compared among countries.

Some examples of use of digital grand canyon:
Florida is full of people in the digital grand canyon, driving around wasting time looking for the best early bird special, when they could have just looked and found it online.
With a data plan, your phone can help you over the digital grand canyon, to online register your kid for town sponsored soccer.

A pseudonym for someone's identity on the internet. This is who they are in chat rooms/forums/online social networks (facebook, myspace, etc) in contrast with who they are in the real world.
My digital alter ego got huge last week, after my definition got added to the urban dictionary front page. I got 10 friend invites on Facebook today from people I don't remember.

A fine line between life and death
With your digital footprint, you can died miserably, either by committing suicide (due to extremely embarrassing footprint) or murdered (due to extremely provocative and agitative footprint)

A club that has mutated into a raging monster gathering students and indoctrinating them on technology and how to obey the computer overlords. Is in Milpitas High School

Another large plague brought to you and promoted by scene kids, but this time it's on YouTube. My Digital Escape consists of 7 famous YouTubers that originally had the intention of making videos to help angsty scene kids with their problems, but ended up making pointless videos of them acting like 5 year olds. Most of these members are YouTubers in their late teens and early twenties, who still haven't moved on from their 14 year old emo and scene phase. This YouTube group also led to the downfall and irrelevance of BryanStars, who stopped doing interviews for the glory of getting more views of My Digital Escape.
Stupid Scene Kid: ERMERGERD MY DIGITAL ESCAPE IS THE BEST THING EVER! JOHNNIE GUILBERT AND BRYANSTARS HELP ME SO MUCH!
Someone who understands: Shut the fuck up! My Digital Escape is pointless and is the reason Bryan sold out!

Middle aged woman, usually blonde and from South Africa, but speaks like a posh bird anyway. Likes to slut it up on MMO games in the evenings while crying over a bottle of cheap prosecco.

Any overly-complicated gadget designed to do a mundane task that can be done much more easily, cheaply, simply, and often better with an old-fashioned, low-tech device. Typically, a digital carrot slicer runs on batteries, has more options and "features" than anyone really wants, costs too much, is difficult to use, provides the user with more information and precision than they need, and is less reliable compared to the low-tech tool.
Compared to pencil and paper for taking notes, a PDA is a digital carrot slicer.
Why use a sharp knife to cut up a carrot when you can use a digital carrot slicer?
Hey, I just got paid yesterday, let's go the the mall and buy a digital carrot slicer at the Sharper Image!
