Australian/New Zealand slang for the Tasman Sea between the two countries often locally referred to as "The Ditch"

The cellular version of a “Ding Dong Ditch”. When you call someone, and hang up with no further response or contact. Another version is calling (receiving no answer) and refusing to respond to their desperate attempt to get back to you.

A Ditch Dragger suffers from poor eyesight and a terrible sense of direction, especially in familiar territory. At least once a year, the ditch dragger will crash a perfectly good truck into a drain that has been there for years.
The Ditch dragger is particularly common on farms, and usually has a proclivity for molesting innocent farm animals.

Run away from, abandon, someone/a situation/a group of people, usually not a good thing. Usually without one's knowledge. Sometimes the ditch promises 9 month earlier that he will be at the rendez-vous (Christmas stream), but he ditches.
