You spray it on your arms and legs and get a few hours of protection. Mosquito bites are itchy and sometimes carry West Nile Virus

It was created when Voldemort was so bored of Avada Kedavra and the other unforgivable curses that he created it. When casting the curse you wave your wand in a V to make it work.
