When things are in proportion, they are proportionate — their relative magnitudes are in balance and make sense the way they are. When the punishment fits the crime, it's proportionate.

Artists, designers, architects, and plastic surgeons are all people who care deeply about whether things are proportionate. After all, if you give someone a nose job and their nose turns out too small, it won't look proportionate. And that's just in the visual sense. The old adage "No use crying over spilled milk" is just a way of saying that tears aren't proportionate to such a minor accident. Tears are proportionate when you crash your car, lose your fortune, or don't get into college.

Proportional Sovereignty

Proportional Sovereignty
noun
When you finally realize you are not the main character in other people’s emotional soap operas and stop trying to run the universe from your nervous system.
A chill, mature form of not giving a fuck — where you care deeply about your own stuff and absolutely refuse to carry anyone else’s psychic groceries.
The opposite of: • “Everyone must like me”
• “I must fix everyone”
• “Why is everyone so mad at me??”
Example:
“I made the weird art, posted it, and went to sleep. That’s proportional sovereignty.”
Also known as: emotional adulting, boundary wizardry, inner landlord energy.
Symptoms include:
Fewer arguments
Less explaining yourself
More naps
Saying “okay” and walking away
Peaceful face while chaos happens nearby
Warning: May cause sudden loss of interest in drama, guilt, and group chats.

pinch proportions

Artistic proportions, most often applied to females, in which some body parts seem to be pinched to incredibly skinny measures, while others seem ballooned to unnecessarily large sizes. Most often used where a woman's waistline is pinched to the point where internal organs cannot possibly exist, and her breasts (and/or head) are ballooned to incredibly disproportionate sizes.

People really need to stop drawing with pinch proportions. These people are starting to look like aliens.
