Label and dismiss

An argument device similar to the "straw man" where opposing points are rebutted with a simplistic misrepresentation of the argument or the opposition themselves. These responses are meant to attack the credibility of the argument or arguer, not respond to an actual argument. As such, once they are delivered, both the argument and arguer are voided.

Popular in discussion of politics, specifically on the Internet and cable television and radio talk-shows.

Person 2: You're a neocon.

label whore

Someone who exclusively (or mostly) wears "name brand" or high fashion labels. They are know to wear only what's in style right "now!". They often purchase clothes solely based on labels and disregard personal style preference or common sense.

Most label whore's generally cannot actually afford the clothes they buy as so much of it goes out of style within months. They're also known to "Shop & Swap" (wear and return clothing after one use).
I lol'd when that label whore Andi couldn't get her money back for that hideous Neiman Marcus bag...$300 down the drain.

Label War

When subsections of the same stereotype collide causing a hatred of all subsections other than one's own, causing a massive "war". For example the "Goth" subsections. Each thinks they have started a trend and all else fails. Most of the time it seems as if the trend that derived from goth hates the stereotype it was derived from.
The Goths
The Brootals
The Emos
The Hardcore Kids
The Scenes
For example, Goths hate all other subsections.
Brootals hate emos and goths (though they were derived from each)
Emos hate goths and scenes. (Again emo is derived from each)
Hardcore kids hate emos and scenes.

Scenes hate goths and emos.
and that's the gist of it. Ridiculous really, but that's what the label war really is. All trying to be number one label i guess.
