A large county ranging from VERY rich to VERY poor. It's in close proximity to New York and has good transportation getting there which cause the taxes to be. Many feel the county is somewhat ethnically segregated in some parts. The western portion of Essex County tends to have wealthy and mainly white towns. These often include The Caldwells, Millburn, Glen Ridge,some of Upper Montclair, Short Hills, and Essex Fells, which are some of the most desirable towns in the state. Other mainly white towns that aren't as wealthy are more near the east but are considered to be still western. These towns include Nutley, Cedar Grove, and Verona which are mainly upper-middle class. On the other hand more toward the east there are towns like Irvington, East Orange, and the infamous Newark which are the least desirable towns in the state. Some towns tend to be stuck in the middle with some nice areas and some bad areas making them mixed. These include South Orange, West Orange, and Montclair. Towns that have few nice areas and are starting to go downhill include Bloomfield and Belleville.

Essex Fells is a place where everyone has money. Whether they are into business or they are a celebrity. Home of many celebrities. Everyone is very preppy wearing polo shirts and very expensive clothing, because they can afford it. Very small town, a little more than just one square mile. There is a pond called "The Pond" where everyone goes skating on during the winter. Many kids attend the elementary school in town which is as small as a private school, only about 200 kids in grades preschool all the way through sixth grade. After sixth grade, some kids go to West Essex middle school and high school, but most of their parents don't like the idea of them going to a large public school where students don't get as much attention as they should, so they get sent to private school. Most boys go to either Delbarton or Oratory. Oratory costs $17,900 and Delbarton costs $32,2000. Also, the girls usually go to Oak Knoll or if they go to West Essex middle school then leave for high school they usually go to Mount Saint Dominic, which starts at ninth grade. Mount Saint Dominic costs $15,850 and Oak Knoll costs $33,550. Usually, the kids who are at private schools are the most wealthy, considering how much each school costs when they can just go to West Essex for free. Overall, Essex Fells is a great town to live in.

Typically consists of North Caldwell, Essex Fells, Fairfield, and Roseland. These four towns lie to the western portion of Essex county, greatly differing from their poorer eastern neighbors such as Newark, Irvington, and Nutly. West essex is a very / one of the most affluent areas in new Jersey. The towns share a regional high school, usually ranked high in the state. West Essex is thought to be more snobby than their "rival" neighbor caldwell which is known to be well off yet, alot less affluent than the west essex area even though residents of west essex travel into caldwell and west caldwell on a daily basis. West essex is close in proximity to New York City, and taxes are known to be the highest in the county. Contrary to some residents beliefs that fairfield is a more "guido" town the taxes still maintain higher levels than those of roseland. There is an increasingly large spirit and love for new jersey in this area. Home of the Sopranos, great restaurants, many celebrities, NJ sports team players, especially Devils players. The kids in these towns tend to be stuck up and spoiled, and they are not ashamed of it at all wearing the best clothing labels and driving brand new cars they got as a present from mommy and daddy which they most likely crashed multiple times and their parents just got them new ones anyway. A predominantly white town that crowds the shore AKA sleazeside on mdw and prom weekend. Think country clubs and pizzerias.
