An online audio blog. Term invented by Adam Curry. A broadcast file which is commonly downloaded on an iPod or other MP3 hardware for mobile listening. Can also be played directly from your computer.

Their weekly podcast, Pop Goes The Culture, covered popular culture topics of the day.

podsafe

A term created in the podcasting community to refer to any work which, through its licensing, specifically allows the use of the work in podcasting, regardless of restrictions the same work might have in other realms. For example, a song may be legal to use in podcasts, but may need to be purchased or have royalties paid for over-the-air radio use, television use, and possibly even personal use.

Playing podsafe music on your podcast will keep you out of trouble with the RIAA.

The unsigned artist released his new single as podsafe.

used to describe the likelyhood that someone would upload a particular song or artist's music in general to an ipod or similar device for listening.

could also apply to a podcast.

basically, it's worth listening to.

podshy

The embarrassment/panic felt when somebody asks to see your iPod. Usually felt when the iPod in question contains songs by artists such as "Simply Red", "A-Ha" and "Kansas".

"They wanted to plug my iPod into their speakers to provide background music for our social gathering, but when I realised that it contained an album by Panic! at the Disco, I got really podshy and pretended that it was out of battery."
